Stained Glass Windows
Have you ever noticed the amazing detail of St. Johns Highbridge's stained glass windows? Take a closer look and you will see some of the most important events in the bible pictured.
These stainglass windows are a stunning feature of our church building.
When you visit be sure to visit the Retro-Chapel to see the East Window. Here the designs depict many scenes from the Easter story.

The Stations of the Cross in pictures
The Stations of the Cross, sometimes called the Way of the Cross, depict the story in pictures of Jesus' crucifixion. Take a few minutes to walk around the church starting from the front left and working your way around the church ending at the front right. Each station is numbered and follows the traditional order...
- Jesus is condemned to death
- Jesus takes up his cross
- Jesus falls the first time
- Jesus meets his Mother
- Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry his cross
- Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
- Jesus falls the second time
- The Women of Jerusalem mourn for Jesus
- Jesus falls the third time
- Jesus is stripped of his clothing
- Jesus is nailed to the cross
- Jesus dies upon the cross
- Jesus is taken down from the cross
- Jesus is laid in the tomb
Each Lent we usually hold a short service of meditation on the Way of the Cross late on a Friday afternoon. Watch out for times in the monthly calendar. It is a powerful service designed, not to make us feel guilty for our sins, but to remind us of the love of God that reconciles us to himself.
