The Curate

The Curate

Reverend Christine Judson

Reverend Chris has been our Curate since 1st July 2007, when she was ordained Deacon at Wells Cathedral and inducted into our Parish.  Immediately prior to this she studied at Ripon College Cuddesdon, near Oxford.  Recently, on Saturday 28th June 2008, along with Dr. Gilly Bunce and Mrs Julie Simms, she was ordained priest, in a service here at St. John’s, and will continue to serve her curacy with us for the next few years.

Chris is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of her curacy.  She is a governor of St. John’s Church of England School and Chaplain to The Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council.  Together with Kelton Black, she is also Chaplain to the Asda Store in Highbridge.

Before ordination, Reverend Chris was a secondary school teacher.  She taught Physics, Science and Maths – firstly at Katherine Lady Berkeley’s School, Woton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, and more recently at Worle School, near Weston-super-Mare.  She considers teaching secondary school children to be an amazing privilege – challenging at times, but also very rewarding!

Chris loves many different kinds of music. She plays bassoon, piano, guitar and mandolin- though none of them with any particular proficiency.  She believes that the enjoyment of music is just as important as the final sound!  Chris also enjoys walking, watching films, eating out and penguin-watching.  Her friends and family are important to her and she believes that love and laughter are essential elements of life!
