I've been with the parish of St John's for just under a year. My role as vicar is mixed and varied. I enjoy visiting our local primary School, Churchfield, about once a week to conduct an assembly as well as serving as a foundation governor. Soon we are to start an afterschool club at Churchfield. I often find my self responding to requests either by phone or email for those wishing to have children baptised, or those seeking to be married in church. My day may consist of visiting those who are unwell, or those who have lost somebody close. When I'm not out and about there is always a bit of admin to catch up on in the office. Planning for events and services takes time especially our more creatve, all age acts of worship. Thankfully I don't work alone but plan alongside other members of our church community, which means finding time in our busy diaries to get together, but it is well worth the effort. No one day is ever the same and I guess that is what I enjoy most.
