Funeral

Anyone living in the parish is entitled to have their funeral conducted in their parish church. The clergy are pleased to receive requests for help directly from families or via a funeral director. They will visit at least once before the funeral to offer pastoral care and make practical arrangements. They are also very happy to travel to any local crematorium if families wish to hold part or all of their service there. Fees vary from year to year, please contact the clergy for details.

Once a year on All Souls Day, all those who have had their funerals taken through St Johns over the past year are remembered by name and families invited to attend. This service is also available to those who would like to make a special request for prayer.

Each year near the anniversary of death the names of the deceased whose funerals have been taken by the clergy at St John's are remembered in our prayers at most services for the first five years, longer specifically requested. A Book of Remembrance is currently being prepared for public display in church which will contain all known records of those whose death was marked through the ministry of St John's church.
